A good bed base and a good mattress are an investment for several years. With simple maintenance, you can extend their lifespan and maintain the comfort of the first day. Here are our real tips, from those of us who deliver and install them every day.
1. Air out your mattress regularly
Remove bedding once a week and leave the mattress to air for a few hours, especially if it's a double-sided summer-winter mattress. Accumulated moisture is the main enemy of foam and viscoelastic material.
2. Rotate or flip the mattress every 2-3 months
This prevents sagging in areas of greater pressure (hips, shoulders). If your mattress is double-sided, alternating it also distributes wear on both sides.
3. Clean the bed base with a dry or slightly damp cloth
Avoid abrasive products on lacquered or wooden finishes (Wenge, Cherry, White, Arctic, Cabrian). A slightly damp microfiber cloth is sufficient for routine maintenance.
4. Check the hydraulic opening occasionally
Gas pistons are designed to last many years, but it's advisable to open and close the bed base carefully, without forcing, and avoid overloading the storage space beyond its recommended capacity.
5. Use a mattress protector
It's the simplest way to protect your investment from stains and daily wear and tear, and it makes cleaning much easier.
6. Do not fold or bend the mattress
When you receive your new mattress, avoid keeping it folded longer than necessary — this can damage the internal core, especially in HR and viscoelastic models.
